We can count several motives to gamble. As far as the majority is concerned the most important one is to win money. People keep gambling in spite of the low possibility to win money. Even when it is one in a million interestingly they may have high expectations. Otherwise millions of people would not be buying lottery tickets and making these sectors gain a lot of money. It is true that sometimes you can earn some money. Ironically most of the time you lose more than you earn because of not being able to stop yourself.

Simply put another motive is entertainment. Gambling has been a kind of a popular game. People do socialize with some kinds of it. Considering the lottery tickets they keep talking about the winning numbers and how slightly they lost it.  The thrill of competition is another motive which can be considered under the headline of entertainment.  Actually the thought of being rank first gives people a great joy.

The last thing is that people like to take risks just thinking that with nothing but a dice they can earn the money they can earn in a year. Therefore gambling creates appeal more than one can understand without experiencing it.
